July 8 - Day 6

Today was a pretty full day at Shad Dalhousie. We started our day with a run around the campus, which prepped us pretty well for the day to come. First was a workshop with Dr. Lee Kirby on mobility. We went to the Rehabilitation Center to learn more about how to maneuver a wheelchair. It was very interesting, as it was a first experience for many of us. It also gave us a lot of insight about this year’s theme.

Ensuite, nous avons eu une conférence sur les marées, ce qui fait un lien parfait avec notre excursion de demain. Nous allons à Cape Split!

After lunch, we headed out to the Halifax Citadel, one of Canada’s oldest forts. Before leaving we, got some neat Shad Dal t-shirts. No, doubt, we looked like tourists. We took a guided tour of this historic monument, and then had some free time in downtown Halifax. We did some souvenir shopping, and found a great restaurant by the sea front. Had a lobster sub, may as well make the most of the East coast!

Pendant que nous attendions pour nos billets pour le Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, nous avons épelé SHAD sur la colline de la Citadelle!

The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is a hard event to explain. It’s an amazing show, and their words best describe it: “The world's largest annual indoor show! Featuring over 2,000 world-class Canadian and international military and civilian performers, the Tattoo continues to live up to its reputation as one of the world's premier cultural and entertainment events. It is a fast-paced, two-and-a-half hour family show featuring music, dance, acrobatics, drama and comedy in a number of innovative acts.”

C’était vraiment fou! Les orchestres militaires nous ont surpris avec des pièces étonnamment modernes et rythmées, et les numéros internationaux étaient à couper le souffle! Nous avons tous adoré cet évènement unique :)

House projects are slowly coming along, and we’re getting to know each other more and more. I can’t wait to see the Bay of Fundy tomorrow!! :D
